Payton is 12 years old and lives in the city with her parents. When they move to the country, she's not happy. But she soon discovers that the woods behind her new home are full of all sorts of creatures she's never seen before, including a family of turtles. Payton becomes fascinated with the turtles and starts spending all her time observing them. She even starts to feel like she understands them.
