Ten Mysterious Creatures: Grass-mud-horses, French-Croatian Squid and More
"Lily, come down for supper!" her grandmother called up the stairs.
Lily sighed and put down her book. She was so bored! There was nothing to do in this small town. Maybe she could explore the attic and see if there were any interesting things up there.
Lily found a key hidden under some dust and decided to see what it unlocked. She gasped when the door opened to reveal a magical world! Suddenly, she realized she was a princess in this world and her task was to save the kingdom from a wicked queen.

Lily hurried down the stairs, her book forgotten. She was excited to explore this new world and see what adventures awaited her!
"Come on, slowpoke!" one of her new friends, a grass-mud-horse named mudbuster, called out.
"We don't have all day!"
Lily raced after him and soon they were galloping through the fields. She laughed as the wind whipped through her hair. This was going to be the best adventure ever!

Lily was so excited to finally have some friends to play with. She thanked the creatures and they went on their way. She was about to go back inside when she heard somebody calling her name. It was the wicked queen! She was angry that Lily had defeated her and wanted revenge. Lily didn't know what to do, but she knew she couldn't let the queen hurt her new friends. She ran towards the queen, yelling for help. The creatures heard her and came running. They were able to defeat the queen again and this time, she was sent back to her own world. Lily was crowned the new ruler of the kingdom and everyone lived happily ever after.

Lily looked around the new world she had discovered. She saw some friendly creatures who helped her on her quest. Together, they defeated the wicked queen and Lily was crowned the new ruler of the kingdom. The creatures go on their way and the wicked queen is defeated again, this time being sent back to her own world.

Lily yawned as she stretched her arms above her head. It was going to be another boring day stuck at home with her grandparents. She wondered if she could find anything fun to do today.
Suddenly, she had an idea. She remembered the key her grandfather had given her shortly after her parents' death. He had told her it was a special key that would unlock a door to a magical world.
Lily raced to her room and grabbed the key from her dresser drawer. She rushed back to the living room, eager to see if the key would really work.
To her disappointment, the key didn't fit in the lock. Lily tried again and again, but it was no use. She was about to give up when she heard a voice behind her.
"What are you doing, Lily?"
Lily turned around to see her grandfather watching her. "I was trying to see if the key would open the door to the magical world," she explained.
Her grandfather smiled. "I'm sorry, Lily, but that key is only for special occasions. You can't use it just for fun."
Lily's face fell. She was about to give up when she heard a voice behind her.

"But why can't I use it now?" she asked. "I'm so bored here."
"I know you are, sweetie," her grandfather said gently. "But you can't just go around opening doors to other worlds whenever you feel like it. It's not safe."
"Why not?"
"Well, what if there were dangerous creatures on the other side of that door? You could get hurt."
Lily thought about this for a moment. He did have a point. She didn't want to get hurt. But she was still curious about what might be on the other side of that door. "Can I at least try it sometime when you're with me?" she asked.
"We'll see," her grandfather said. "Now, why don't you go outside and play with your friends."
Lily sighed, but she knew it was time to give up for now. She would just have to be patient and wait for a special occasion to use the key.

Lily looked at the key in her hand and then back up at her grandfather. She was disappointed, but she didn't want to disobey him. "Okay, I'll go outside and play with my friends."
She went out to the garden where her friends were playing. They were having so much fun that she soon forgot all about the key and the door in the attic.

Later that day, Lily's grandfather finds her playing with the key in the attic. He scolds her and tells her to put the key away. Lily does as she is told, but she can't help but wonder what is on the other side of the door.

Lily's heart raced as she faced the wicked queen. She knew she had to be brave and do whatever it took to save the kingdom.
"So, you think you can just waltz in here and take over?" the queen sneered. "You're wrong, princess. You'll never defeat me!"
"I will," Lily said firmly. "I have to. For my kingdom."

"I will," Lily said firmly. "I have to. For my kingdom."
As the wicked queen rushed towards her, Lily stepped forward and held out her hand. A bright light shot from her palm and hit the queen square in the chest. The queen flew back, screeching in pain as she hit the ground. Lily ran to her and knelt down, but it was too late. The queen was dead.
Lily was getting very bored. She had read all the books in her room and there was nothing to do outside because it was raining. She remembered the key her grandpa had told her not to use and she thought maybe this was the time to try it. She went to the attic and found the door with the keyhole. She inserted the key and turned it. The door opened and she walked into a magical world.
There were creatures she had never seen before and she soon made friends with them. They would have adventures together and Lily would forget all about her boring life back in the real world. But one day, they ran into a Wicked Queen who was terrorizing the kingdom. Lily bravely stepped forward and confronted her. The Queen tried to blast Lily with a dark spell but Lily held up her hand and blasted her with a bright light from her palm, saving the day.

Lily was getting bored. It had been raining for days and she was stuck inside the house with nothing to do. She thought about going exploring in the attic, but her grandfather had told her not to go up there. Lily wondered what could be so bad about the attic. She decided to ask her grandmother if she could go up there.
"Please, can I go explore the attic?" Lily begged. "I'm so bored."
"Absolutely not," her grandmother said. "It's too dangerous."
"But why?" Lily asked. "What's up there?"
"There's nothing up there for you to worry about," her grandmother said. "Now, go find something else to do."
Lily couldn't understand why her grandparents were being so secretive about the attic. She was sure they were hiding something from her. After lunch, she went outside to see if any of her friends were around, but they were all busy with their own things. With nothing else to do, Lily decided to go exploring in the attic after all.
When she got to the attic door, she found that it was locked. She remembered seeing a key on her grandfather's desk earlier that day. She went downstairs and took the key from the desk drawer. Then she went back to the attic and unlocked the door.
As soon as she stepped inside, Lily knew that her grandparents had been hiding something from her. The attic was huge and filled with magical creatures! There were fairies, elves, and even a dragon! Lily couldn't believe her eyes.
She was about to explore further when she heard someone coming up the stairs. It was her grandmother! Lily quickly hid behind a stack of boxes. She held her breath as her grandmother came into the attic and started looking around.
"Lily!" her grandmother called out. "Where are you?"
Lily didn't answer. She was too afraid of getting caught.
"I know you're in here," her grandmother said. "Come out now."
Lily slowly stood up from behind the boxes and walked towards her grandmother. "I'm sorry," she said. "I just wanted to see what was in here."
"This is not a place for you to be," her grandmother said sternly. "You could have gotten hurt."
"I'm sorry," Lily said again. "I won't come back here again."
"Good," her grandmother said. "Now let's go downstairs and forget this ever happened."
Lily agreed and followed her grandmother downstairs. She was glad she hadn't been caught exploring the attic, but she was also disappointed that she hadn't gotten to see more of the magical creatures. She was sure she would find a way back into the attic again someday.

Lily: I'm sorry, I tried my best.
Guard: Your best wasn't good enough. You failed.
Lily: (sadly) I understand.

Lily: (sadly) I understand.
The guard leads her away and she is put in a dark room with no windows. She sits on the floor and cries until she falls asleep.
She wakes up to the sound of keys jingling and the door opening. A figure comes into the room and Lily can see it's the queen.
Queen: You little brat. You ruined everything!
Lily stands up and backs away from the queen as she comes closer.
Queen: I'll make you pay for what you've done!
She raises her hand to Lily, but before she can do anything, a bright light surrounds Lily and blasts the queen across the room.
Queen: What is this?!
Lily: I don't know... it just came out of me when I was scared...
Queen: (standing up) It doesn't matter what you can do now, you're still coming with me!
The queen tries to grab Lily, but she blasts her again with the light and runs out of the room.

As the queen chased after Lily, she blasted her again with the light and ran out of the room. Through the door, Lily could see the castle courtyard and freedom beyond. She ran as fast as she could, but the queen was right behind her. Just as the queen was about to grab her, Lily used her power to blast her into a wall. The impact knocked the queen unconscious and Lily ran out of the castle to freedom.
